ColourQ #190

Good Morning!
Today I have a butterfly kaleidoscope using this week's new ColourQ colors.
I had so much fun stamping and coloring this design.
I loved the way it turned out and didn't want to cover up all my hard work ;)
I decided to use some vellum to emboss my sentiment and added a few strips of glitter using score tape to keep everything nice and straight.

Thanks for stopping by today.
I hope you'll join us again this week.

Quilt Prints

Here's the card I was talking about earlier.
I love it, but I just can't find a sentiment that works.
Any suggestions?

Since it's still not done, I certainly did not get it done in under 10 minutes!
I did use the pretty colors from the craft dash as my starting point.

I spent the whole rainy day in my craft room.
I worked on some ColourQ projects, May's 12 Kits projects,
and made a card for this month's PTI Blog Hop.
Hope you had a great weekend!

10 Minute Craft Dash #18 {Fail}

The goal was 10 minutes....
I took more like 30!
I started on one card and then wasn't sure where I wanted to go with it exactly.  Even now it sits unfinished.  I love it, but it has no sentiment and I can't figure out a way to add one without ruining it...... So in the meantime I started working on a second card.
This one :)

It's a rainy Sunday here today.
It makes me happy, though, because I have some new Wplus9 products to play with.
I'm headed back into my craft room!
Have a great day.

Hang In There...

I love all of the primary colors and patterns in the current WP9 Mood Board.
I'm so happy that Dawn decided to extend the time to work with her mood boards from one week to two.  I always want to participate, but don't always have the time in one week to get it done.

Have a great weekend!

In A Butterfly Mood

I've been drawn to butterflies recently.
These were so fun to make.  I used a fun technique to remove some of the ink from the stamp before stamping and also added a little doodling to add a bit of whimsy.

In this week's PTI Make It Monday video Betsy used a comb to remove some of the ink from her stamps before stamping to create texture. I knew we didn't have a comb in our house.  I brush my hair, not comb it, and my sweet husband has no hair to comb ;)
So I needed to think of an alternative.  I tried pressing the stamp onto impression plates, it worked but didn't look all that great when stamped.  Then I tried dragging different dies over the stamp like the picket fence and the pointed end of the heart border die.  Again, it worked, but didn't give a great result.  Then I remembered a cool die cut from one of my 12 kits from last year.  It was a leaf die cut that had very separated, pointy leaves.  While I was pulling that out I saw this tree die cut that had a doily pattern to it.  I tried that and I though it looked so pretty!

What I ended up doing in the end was stamp the butterfly in the lighter ink color first. Then I inked up the butterfly again with the darker shade. I pressed the die cut onto the stamp to remove some of the ink and then stamped right over top of the lighter color. After that I added some doodles with a black and white pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
I've added new projects to the Friday Inspiration File......#117.
Check them out!

Modeling Paste and Gelatos

Since starting my art journal, I have been using so many new products.
Two of my favorites have been modeling paste and gelatos.
The modeling paste is wiped on over an inexpensive stencil I bought at Walmart.
If applied in a thin layer, it dries quickly and it leaves a raised image.  With all of my dies, I have been making my own stencils, too, with acetate.
After the modeling paste has dried it can be inked, painted, stamped on, sanded, or water colored like I have here with my gelatos.  Gelatos can be used in so many fun ways.  They come in a little tube like lip balm and can be applied directly to your project and blended dry.  You could add them directly onto your project and then blended with water.  I didn't want big globs of gelato on my project and going directly from the tube to the raised image would have left little chunks so I used a wet brush on the tip of the gelato to pick up color and then brushed it over the modeling paste to create a subtle ombre look.

Have a great weekend!
